We are about 4 weeks out to the 2024 Lobsterfest and we held our final chair meeting last night. Here are some takeaways:
-Day-of assignments are out. Mike sent them in an email last week. If you would like to switch, email him directly.
-If you are a chair and need anything, now is the time to let Mike know.
-Tickets are not selling very well. If you have tickets you cannot sell, please email Mike and let him know so we can get an idea of how many tickets are still out there.
Two favorite Bobs gave their classification speeches last night and we all loved every minute of it!
BOB LOPA started with Rotary in 1977 but had to leave because of travel obligations. He rejoined in 2014 and has been a loyal member ever since. Bob was born and raised in Hartford's South End where his dad was a police officer. Bob said he made three critical decisions in his life: 1. Marrying his wife, Diane 2. Becoming a Marine 3. Joining Rotary. Bob is proud to call the club family and has loved being a part of the group for so many years.
BOB ZANLUNGO joined Rotary at just 29 years old. Bob was born in the Eastern part of CT. In his Senior year of college, he was a White House intern (the year after Monica Lewinsky - no joke). He later was hired and worked at the White House...an experience he will never forget. Bob is a Past President and past Lobsterfest Chairman (the first that was younger than the event itself). He loves Rotary for the friendships he says will last his lifetime and was grateful for the support from club members when his parents died.
This Saturday, May 18th is the Rotary Day of Service from 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM. There are multiple locations where members will be doing projects. Chris Fraleigh will be sending out an email soon with location assignments.
The Paul Harris Dinner is this Sunday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Cafe Aura. Don't forget to pay Kevin Flanagan or bring payment that night.
Bob Lopa gave an update on Rotarian Bob Drury. He is not doing well and spending much of his time in bed. If you'd like to reach out to him or his family, talk with Bob.
