Amplify Executive Director (and Rotarian Dave Miller's daughter), Allyson Nadeau, along with Narcan Trainer John Lally presented a shortened training of how to use Narcan on someone who might be overdosing on Opioids or Fentanyl. They also presented some scary statistics about the infiltration of Fentanyl into street drugs.
KEY TAKEAWAYS:
1. 6 out of 10 pills purchased on the street have enough Fentanyl to kill someone.
2. ONE PILL CAN KILL.
3. Fewer kids are using Opioids, but more are dying.
4. Narcan reverses the effects of Opioids and is harmless (NO SAFETY ISSUES when giving someone Narcan).
5. Currently seeing a trend of drug dealers adding horse tranquilizer to Fentanyl to make the high last longer (25% of Fentanyl drugs contain horse tranquilizer).
